Many of our dining, wedding, or corporate patrons are touring the Daylesford region and enjoying the fabulous scenery, activities and produce of the famed Spa Region.
The Hanging Rock Winery was established in 1983 and is located in Australia's coolest grape growing region; The Macedon Ranges, just an easy one hour drive from Melbourne.
In 1982 with a wealth of knowledge behind them, John & Ann Ellis decided to purchase a block of land to fulfill their ambition to building their own winery. The bare block they chose, known as 'Jim Jim' was ideal - ultra cool climate, south facing with decomposing basalt soil - a perfect site for realising their dream of producing Australia's finest sparkling wine.

The first vines were planted at Curly Flat in 1991 and with progressive plantings the vineyard is now 14 hectares (33 acres) - principally Pinot Noir with some Chardonnay and a little Pinot Gris.
A new winery was constructed in time for the April 2002 vintage. The original homestead, built in 1890's, has been extensively renovated to host wine tastings and other wine related events.

Our cellar door has a wide selection of wines produced by grapes grown or sourced by Barcaldine Country House. In addition to our wine we also offer Cheese platters, Devonshire tea and light lunches from our resurant. We are open 10am to 5pm most days including public holidays.
Our cellar door is the closest available to Daylesford, just 8kms from the town center.
The cellar door at Barcaldine Country House overlooks cascading fish ponds and manicured English gardens. A beautiful way to while away an hour or two with a selection of fine wine and a cheese platter. "Life wasn't meant to be this easy".

The cellar has a cosy wood heater to keep you warm in winter or on warmer days, relax in the pavilion overlooking the lake and stunning rock art water feature designed by a local stone artist.
Visitors are invited to enjoy rustic regional food from the wood fired oven. Seasonal regional produce platters with freshly baked bread from the wood fired oven, wood fired pizzas or wood fired roasts and vegetables. The Alan Scott designed wood fired oven is a feature of the outdoor area.

Balgownie Estate is one of Australia's great small vineyards famed for its long lived Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz and the Cellar Door is the place to start your experience.
Today, a visit to Balgownie Estate Bendigo, takes you through a driveway lined with olive trees and vineyards. Further along sits the original cottage and high pitched roof winery, surrounded by rugged gnarly iron bark and box gum trees. The cellar door boasts a wine tasting and sales area, a café, and wine museum.
